Lenox Honors Seniors, Edges St. Mary's
LENOX, Mass. – The Lenox softball team Tuesday played error-free defense and honored their seniors in a 4-2 win over St. Mary.
Evelyn Julieano went the distance in the circle, striking out 11, walking two and allowing just one earned run. The first Saints’ run came home on a passed ball in the second inning.
Offensively, Cassidy Flynn went 2-for-4 and Amber Arseneau doubled for Lenox, which got RBIs from Lilly MacDonald and Anna Nealon.
It was the second win in five days over St. Mary’s but it was night and day between Tuesday’s win and the 18-14 decision in Westfield on Friday.
“Last Friday’s 18-14 win vs St. Mary’s came with 11 errors,” Lenox coach Amy Pires said. “Tonight, we had zero errors. Before tonight, we were averaging almost five errors a game. We have worked hard on reducing the damage and it showed. We played a good, clean game. These girls needed this morale booster as they wrap up the regular season this week.”
Tuesday’s win also came on a day that celebrated the careers of Lenox’s seniors.
Aliza Munch returned to the lineup after off-season surgery and went 1-for-1 with a walk.
Ella Hall, who hurt her ankle in late April, was back on the field for the first pitch of the game so she could participate in Senior Night.
Lenox (7-6) goes to Amherst Pelham on Wednesday, the second of four games this week.
