Spartan Softball Rallies for Nine-Inning Win

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Alex Tenney scored on an error in the bottom of the ninth to give the Monument Mountain softball team a 9-8 come-from-behind win over Lee on Thursday.
 
Tenney singled to left with one out to start the winning rally. She moved up on a groundout by Jade Abderhalden and came around to score on the misplay of a ball hit by Takaiya Brown.
 
The Spartans overcame deficits of 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh and 8-6 in the bottom of the eighth to get to the ninth inning.
 
Grace Fosser led the Monument Mountain offense with a 3-for-5 day that included a triple and a double.
 
Kaitlyn Fennelly went 2-for-4 with a double, and Elee Hull, Avery Raifstanger, Bella Viola and Tenney each had a pair of hits.
 
Meg Dupont earned the win in the circle, allowing just three earned runs in eight innings of work.
 
Bri Lynch was the hard-luck loser for Lee, allowing four earned runs and striking out 18.
 
Lynch and Kamryn Renata each had four hits in a 16-hit Lee attack.
 
The Wildcats (5-2) host Drury on Saturday.
 
Monument Mountain (3-2) is at Putnam on Monday.
