Easthampton Softball Advances Past Monument Mountain
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – McKenzie McCarthy went 3-for-4 with a triple and a pair of RBIs Tuesday to lead the Easthampton softball team to a 9-5 win over Monument Mountain in the Western Massachusetts Class B Quarter-Finals.
Fifth-seeded Easthampton advances to travel to top-seeded PIttsfield in the regional semi-finals on Thursday.
On Tuesday, the Spartans took a 5-4 lead with a three-run third inning, but the Eagles rallied for three in the fifth to retake the lead.
Lexi Carpenter went 3-for-4 with a double to pace Monument Mountain’s offense. Jade Abderhalden tripled and drove in a pair of runs in an eight-hit attack for the Spartans.
Andrea Paul went the distance in the circle for Monument Mountain, striking out three and allowing five earned runs.
Monument Mountain (14-3) waits to hear its final opponent to finish the regular season.
