WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Amber Bergeron went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs on Wednesday to lead the Greenfield softball team to a 16-3 win over Mount Greylock in the Western Massachusetts Class C Championship Game.

The top-seeded Green Wave earned a third win this season against the Mounties, but only after Mount Greylock threw a scare into Greenfield in the top of the first.

A.J. Pelkey drew a two-out walk, and Emma Newberry hit a two-run blast over the left-field fence for the first runs Greenfield allowed in its three Western Mass tournament games.

The Green Wave (16-5) answered right away with three runs in the bottom of the first to take a lead it never relinquished.

Bergeron hit an RBI double to left to break a 2-2 tie.

Meanwhile, MacKenzie Paulin settled down after a rocky start to allow just four hits while striking out 19 and walking one in a complete-game effort in the circle.

Newberry had half of the Mounties' hits, also contributing a double.

Mount Greylock generated its third run in the top of the sixth.

Malia Koffi got things started with a leadoff single and went to second on an error. She then scored when Newberry reached on an error to get the Mounties within 10 runs at 13-3.

Greenfield answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Mount Greylock (14-7) is seeded second in the D5 state tourney. The Mounties will open against the winner of a play-in round game between Carver and St. Joseph's Prep.
