Powerhouse Burlington Softball Team Tops Wahconah
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Katie Hayes went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs Tuesday to lead the Burlington softball team to a 7-2 win over Wahconah.
“Burlington is one of the top teams in the state,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. “To play them on the road was a good early season test. We played very well defensively, [Taylar] Hickey kept us in the game, keeping the ball around the plate and we did a good job putting together a complete effort from start to finish.”
Burlington last spring went to the Sweet 16 in the Division 2 State Tournament.
Hickey struck out two and walked three in the complete-game effort in the circle.
Elena Iovieno went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Dani Barry was 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run for Wahconah.
Wahconah (4-2) goes to Turners Falls on Thursday.
