Hickey Leads Wahconah Girls to Second Win
EASTHAMPTON, Mass. – Taylar Hickey went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs Wednesday to lead the Wahconah softball team to a 6-1 win over Easthampton.
Avery Vale-Cruz struck out 16 and allowed just three walks and two hits to improve to 2-0 in the circle this spring.
Hickey, the No. 9 hitter, hit a three-run triple in the top of the second to give Wahconah a 3-0 lead, and it led by six runs before the Eagles got on the board. No. 7 hitter Olivia Iovieno went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
Elea Iovieno also went 2-for-2.
“It was a good early season high school softball game,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. “The bottom of our order came through today. Great team win today – good pitching, good defense and timely hitting.”
Wahconah (2-0) goes to Frontier on Tuesday.
