Wilson Homer Highlights Wahconah's Season-Opening Win

DALTON, Mass. – Avery Vale-Cruz struck out 11, and Casey Wilson hit a two-run home run as the Wahconah softball team opened the season with a 14-0, five-inning win over Mohawk Trail on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Vale-Cruz allowed just two hits and one walk in the victory.

 

Wilson went 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the game. Her two-run round-tripper came in a seven-run second-inning rally that gave Wahconah an 11-0 lead.

 

Vale-Cruz helped her cause by going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Dani Barry was 2-for-3 at the plate and scored four times, and Olivia Iovieno went 2-for-2.

 

Wahconah (1-0) goes to Easthampton on Wednesday.
