Wahconah Softball Comes Back on Blue Devils
DALTON, Mass. -- After falling behind 2-0 after the top of the second, the Wahconah High School softball team rallied to take a 9-3 win from Drury on Saturday afternoon.
"Although Drury secured the early lead," Wahconah never panicked and chipped away at the lead, getting at least one run in every inning except the first," Drury coach Mary Ann Maroni said.
Allie Borwosky got the win in the circle, striking out four and scattering seven hits over seven innings.
The fact that Drury has yet to practice on a regulation field due to field conditions played into the errors that produced six unearned runs against starter Cat Record (five strikeouts, one walk), Maroni said.
"Early season jitters plagued our team and caused miscues defensively and our inability to generate consistent offense," she said.
Alli Brassard went 3-for-4 at the plate for Drury. Ingrid Olsen had two hits and an RBI.
Drury travels to Brattleboro, Vt., on Monday.
