Witek Leads Hoosac Valley Softball to Opening Day Win

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Rylynn Witek went 3-for-4 with a triple Tuesday to lead the Hoosac Valley softball team to a 10-4 win over Pittsfield.

 

Madi Puppolo struck out 13 to earn the win in the circle as the Hurricanes started the year 1-0.

 

Witek also drew a walk and scored three runs in the leadoff spot to spark the offense.

 

Paige Meyette tripled in a 2-for-4 afternoon. Nora Moser went 2-for-4 and scored twice, and Puppolo doubled in the win.

 

Alyssa Mercier homered, and Mia Alfonso and Abby Lummus each tripled for Pittsfield.

 

Pittsfield (1-1) hosts Mount Everett on Wednesday.

 

Hoosac Valley is at Taconic on Thursday.
