Angell, Mount Everett Softball Edge Taconic

SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Faith Angell outdueled Mary Lee Wednesday as the Mount Everett softball team opened the season with a 4-3 win over Taconic.
 
“Solid pitching and defensive efforts on both teams,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “We made the plays today when needed, and it feels good to get on the field and finally play a game.
 
“I’m proud of all the girls for their effort and was a total team win today. Look forward to getting back at it tomorrow against Hoosac Valley.”
 
Angell helped her cause with a single and a pair of RBIs in an eight-hit Mount Everett attack. Ashley Atwood, Makenzie Ullrich and Jaclyn Derwitsch each went 2-for-3 for the Eagles.
 
Lee struck out a pair for Taconic, which got a three-run home run from Taea Bramer ana  2-for-4 performance from Laynie Burke.
 
Taconic (1-1) hosts Drury on Tuesday.
