MILLIS, Mass. – Riley Caulfield struck out 15 and allowed just three hits Sunday to lead the Millis softball team to a 7-0 win over Mount Everett in the Division 5 State Tournament.

No. 14 Millis (11-10 advances to the Round of 16 to take on either Hopedale or Pathfinder for a spot in the state quarter-finals.

Meg Loring went 2-for-3 for the Eagles, who also got a hit from Emily Steuernagle. But Mount Everett was not able to get a runner past first base.

“Really couldn't get anything going today at the plate, and when we were finally able to get something going it was too late,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “Millis was well disciplined at the plate and capitalized on our errors to score early. A tough way for the seniors to go out but they've played well all year and not the way you want to end the season but we've battled all year and I'm proud of the effort we put forth every game.”

Julia Devoti struck out eight, walked one and allowed five earned runs in the circle for Mount Everett, which finishes the season with a record of 7-10.
