Devoti, Mount Everett Edge Ludlow in Opener
SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Julia Devoti went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in Monday to lead the Mount Everett softball team to a 9-8 win over Ludlow.
Emily Gilmore drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to break an 8-8 tie for the Eagles.
“Finally felt good to actually play a game as all of last week got rained out and with a solar eclipse coming we weren’t sure if we'd be able to play or not,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “Struggling through all those things we cannot control, we did enough to win, which was great.”
Emily Steuernagle and Aliyah Creamer each had a pair of hits, including a double each.
Devoti earned the win in the circle, striking out eight while walking just one.
Mount Everett (1-0) hosts Chicopee on Tuesday.
