McCann's Big Bats Blast Smith Academy
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The McCann Tech softball team barely got by Easthampton for its first win of the season. The Hornets\' second victory of the season wasn\'t nearly as close.Robin Finnegan\'s club jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings against Smith Academy and never looked back on its way to a 15-4 win at home on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Katie Hancock played a big part in the offensive explosion, going 4 for 4 with five RBI and four runs scored. Junior Ashley Alibozek also had a good day at the plate, collecting three hits to go along with four runs scored and two more runs batted in.
"It was a great win tonight," Finnegan said. " I was very pleased with the offense. The bats came alive, and Kate Haring pitched well and again played solid defense up the middle."
Haring got the start for McCann and picked up her second win of the season. The senior hurler allowed three earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Junior Cassie Field also had two of the Hornets\' 14 hits in the game.
