NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- McCann Tech freshman Alanza Quinones hit a walkoff double with two on in the bottom of the seventh to lead the Hornets to a 12-11 win over Palmer.

McCann rallied with five runs in the seventh to win its home opener, snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 2-3 this spring.

Quinones went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs and played a solid game behind the plate.

"We had a lot of offense today, and it's due to the fact that they were patient at the plate and swung at good pitches," McCann Coach Kate Galli said. "We did commit seven errors, but we never let that define us, and we bounced back and supported each other.

"I'm proud of the way they stayed in the game for the full seven innings and never said die."

Olivia Esoldi and Lexi Andrews each had three hits and scored three runs for the Hornets. Jamie Meehan went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Jordan Owensby went the distance in the circle to win her second game, striking out three and walking none while scattering 11 hits.

"Jordan pounded the strike zone today and worked the corners of the plate," Galli said. "She was focused on her job and didn't get into deep counts."

McCann is home on Thursday at 1 p.m. against Mount Everett.
