SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The McCann Tech softball team rallied to force extra innings but dropped a 7-6 decision to Sabis in bottom of the eighth on Monday.

After falling behind 4-0 after three, the Hornets (1-3) came back to tie it in the sixth.

McCann coach Kate Galli said she continues to see improvement from her team, even though it has not been able to get any practice time on its field.

"I know many teams are in the same boat as us, and you just have to make the best of the situation," Galli said. "I have a great group of kids here who are hard-working and really want to excel.

"It's  just a matter of time for the little things to start clicking and we'll be headed in the right direction. We remain positive and continue to move forward and learn each day."

Olivia Esoldi went 2-for-4 with two walks and a run scored. Jess Sunn went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Haley Malloy took the loss in the circle.
