EASTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Freshman Alanza Quinones drove in both runs for the McCann Tech softball team in a 5-2 loss at Easthampton on Thursday afternoon.

"We did have some positives, with Kaylee McNeice having a nice bunt single and Jamie Meehan made a nice running grab in left field to end an inning with runners on," McCann coach Kate Galli said. "Alanza continues to see the ball well and drove in our two runs."

Seniors Jordan Prevey and Jessica Sunn each had a hit for McCann (1-1).

Haley Malloy took the loss in the circle despite allowing just four hits. She got 1-1/3 inning of scoreless relief from Jordan Owensby.

"Haley Malloy ... was really pounding the strike zone," Galli said after the sophomore struck out three with one walk. "She looked in control out there and kept hitters off balance.

"We made a couple of costly errors and needed to make some adjustments at bat."

McCann visits Mount Greylock on Friday.
