Frontier Softball Edges McCann Tech

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. – Ashley Taylor struck out seven and walked none Friday to lead the Frontier softball team to a 2-1 win over McCann Tech in the regular season finale for both teams.

 

The hosts took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a solo home run by Delaney Fifield and an RBI from Sophia Pinardi.

 

“Very disappointing loss today,” McCann Tech coach Robin Finnegan said. “We played great defense but couldn't get the offense going, stranding too many runners. We will learn from it.”

 

Emily Raschdorf went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Hornets, who got hits from Shaylee Lawson and Emily Glasier.

 

Hannah Tatro went the distance in the circle for McCann Tech, striking out three.

 

The Hornets (10-8) learn Wednesday who they will open against in the state tournament.
