TURNERS FALLS, Mass. – Kendra Campbell drove in a run with a groundout in the bottom of the seventh Monday to give the Franklin Tech softball team a 3-2 win over Drury in the Western Massachusetts Class C quarter-finals.

"This was a hard fought complete game," Drury coach Michelle Darling said. "We never gave up and played errorless ball. In the end it may not have gone our way but these kids proved they came to play.

We made some great plays: center fielder Kaley Bushika tracked a long fly ball to deep center field and leaped up at the fence to momentarily catch the ball before falling over the fence and losing the ball. She never gave up on tracing the ball. Brooke Bishop was stellar behind the plate. Not only did she call a great game, she threw out Franklin Tech's first base runner and set the tone for the game. No other Franklin Tech runner tried to steal."

Olivia Perry went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored both runs for Drury, which got hits from Ariana Rivard and  Bishop.

In the circle, Perry struck out five in a complete-game effort.

Franklin Tech pitcher Hannah Gilbert struck out 14 to lead her team into the regional semi-finals against the winner of Tuesday’s game between McCann Tech and Greenfield.

Drury (14-5) will wrap up its regular season against the loser of that quarter-final.
