West Boylston Stops Lee in State Tournament

WEST BOYLSTON, Mass. – Kheira Ashey' struck out nine and scattered three hits Wednesday to lead the West Boylston softball team to a 6-0 win over Lee in the Division 5 State Tournament Round of 16.

 

Ashey walked two in the complete-game effort, pitching the sixth-seeded Lions (17-5) into the state quarter-finals to meet No. 3 Hopedale (19-3).

 

Lee’s Bri Lynch also went the distance in the circle, striking out seven and allowing five earned runs.

 

Zoe Ozawa, Taryn Bannon and Brooke Delaguistina each had a hit for Lee.

 

The 11th-seeded Wildcats finish the season 17-4.
