Polumbo Paces Mounties to Win in Opener

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Emma Polumbo scored five goals, and Julia Whitney stopped nine shots to lead the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team to an 18-5 win over Hoosac Valley on Wednesday.

Sarah Stripp had a hat trick, and Haley Reinhard, Karen McComish and Kristen Aliberti scored two goals apiece for the Mounties (1-0).

Alie Mendel and Claudia Bresett each scored two goals and assisted on one for Hoosac (1-1). Aubrey Rumbolt scored a goal and provided two assists for the Hurricanes, who travel to Lee on Friday.

Mount Greylock hosts Pittsfield on Friday evening.
