Trager Leads Wahconah in Bounceback Win
DALTON, Mass. -- The Wahconah girls lacrosse team Sunday earned a pair of wins over Belchertown.
First, Wahconah beat the Orioles, 11-6, behind four goals from Paige Trager.
Then, the teams finished their overtime game from April 13 that was suspended due to darkness, and Wahconah came out on top, 13-12.
In Game One of the "double-header," Claire Naef had hat trick, and Ava Massaro scored twice to back up Trager as their team bounced back from a disappointing showing against Mount Anthony on Saturday.
"Great turnaround game with a much better focus on a group effort," Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. "Paige Trager had a great game today. Everyone wanted this game and their effort was intense."
Phalyn Renderer made 10 saves to earn the win in goal.
In the continuation game, Eva Eberwein and Claire Naef each scored four goals, and Trager and Norah Esko each scored a pair.
Renderer was credited with six savs in that one.
Wahconah (7-6) is scheduled to go to Mount Greylock on Monday.
