East Longmeadow Girls Lacrosse Edges Wahconah

DALTON, Mass. -- The East Longmeadow girls lacrosse team Sunday came back from a two-goal half-time deficit to earn a 15-14 win at Wahconah.

 

Gianna Liquori scored six goals for the Spartans.

 

Emily Figiela scored five times, and Catie Ronayne, Jilly Cote and Hannah Bowlby each had a hat trick for Wahconah.

 

"We moved the ball well through the midfield and were working well together," Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. "Our defense did a nice job of sticking to the cutters and causing some nice turnovers. Sydney [Smith] made some great saves on some tough shots. They had some players who were potent on offense.

 

"Our offense worked well together and found cutters on some really nice offensive plays. Even though we lost we played a great game."

 

Smith made eight stops in the loss.

 

Wahconah (8-6-1) goes to Chicopee Comp on Monday.
