Wahconah's Cote Scores 10 in OT Win
MANCHESTER, Vt. -- Emmy Cote scored 10 goals Tuesday to lead the Wahconah girls lacrosse team to a 17-16, come-from-behind overtime victory over Burr & Burton Academy.
Wahconah (8-2) went into halftime down, 11-7, but outscored the host Bulldogs by a margin of 9-5 in the second half.
“We came out of half-time, and McKenna McIlquham was the spark that ignited the team,” Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. “From there we played hard, and Emmy Cote finished it strong for us.
“In overtime, the defense played well and forced a turnover that gave us possession and Emmy scored with 1:07 left in overtime.”
Cote also scored Wahconah’s last four goals of the second half, including the tying goal with 1:30 left.
Jordan Budaj had four goals and an assist, and McIlquham scored twice. Katie Bachli made five saves to earn the win in goal.
Wahconah travels to West Springfield on Friday.
