Amherst Girls Lacrosse Tops Hoosac Valley
CHESHIRE, Mass. – Talie Sadiq scored five goals, and the Amherst girls lacrosse team held off a second-half comeback bid by Hoosac Valley to earn a 14-9 win on Friday.
Hoosac scored just three goals in the first half and trailed by four at the break but played the visiting Hurricanes nearly even after half-time.
“Unfortunately, we didn't come out with the energy we have the past two games and we lost a lot in transition into defense,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “We need to be better about finding adjacent players in transition to slow the attack. In the second half, we settled down and had a much better offensive stretch. I’m glad we rebounded that way. We have a few things to work on to be as fast and dominating as we can be.”
Emma Meczywor scored four goals and set up two more. Lauren Davis and Ashlyn Lesure each scored a pair, and Jacinta Felix had a goal for Hoosac Valley.
Kennedy Whitely made five saves for the hosts (2-1), who go to Monson on Tuesday.
