Milestone for Meczywor as Hurricanes Top Lee
LEE, Mass. – Hoosac Valley’s Emma Meczywor eclipsed the 300-point mark for her career on Friday in leading the Hurricanes past Lee, 24-14.
Meczywor scored six goals and assisted on eight more for 14 points. She came into the game with 290 in time on varsity.
“Emma Meczywor was instrumental on the draws, controlling much of the 2nd half,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “She also surpassed the 300-point total mark today as a junior. We are so proud of her hard work, growth and leadership. As her mom, it’s also a great day to get a front row seat to her milestone.”
Jacinta Felix also had a big day with seven goals and four assists in the. win.
Ashlyn Lesure scored six goals, and Reagan Shea added four.
“Total team win today,” West said. “So many great things put together! And so many girls stepping up in big plays. Our defense was the best I’ve seen all season.”
Elizabeth Ballinger broke through Hoosac Valley’s defense to score seven goals to lead the Wildcats, who got three goals from Ashley Sonsini and two apiece from Annette Boyko and Naima Clark.
Reese Duschense stopped 12 shots in Lee’s goal.
Cami Lavato had 14 saves to backstop Hoosac Valley to the win.
The Hurricanes (6-3) and Wildcats (4-4) meet again on Monday in Cheshire.
