CHICOPEE, Mass. – Emma Meczywor scored six goals, and Ashlyn Lesure added five Thursday as the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team beat Chicopee, 16-11.

 

Jacinta Felix had a hat trick, and Maryn Cappiello had a goal and three assists in the win.

 

“This game came down mostly in part to draws.” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “Ashlyn [Lesure], Jacinta [Felix], Emma [Meczywor] and Reagan [Shea] were instrumental in winning draws which allowed us a quick transition to offense.”

 

The Hurricanes got 13 saves from Cami Lavato in the win.

 

“We still have some work to do in our offense to defense transition, but our second half showed promise,” West said. “Peyton Choquette, Emma Akroman and Niya Borowski did a nice job fixing mistakes in the second half and it was evident in the decreased chances by Chicopee. Both goalies were tremendous as well. Cami made some fantastic saves.”

 

Hoosac Valley (2-0) hosts Springfield Central on Monday.
