PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley boys lacrosse team Tuesday earned a hard fought 14-13 victory over Lenox in Class C Western Mass Championship. 

 

Hoosac and Lenox battled through all four quarters in an intense Western Mass Finals game at BCC. It was a back-and-forth game with each team having at least four people score and players with multiple assists. 

 

This was a rematch for Hoosac and Lenox who had played each other twice this season already and were tied in their series 1-1 before Tuesday's game. Hoosac valley won their last match up at home earlier this month, however Lenox beat Hoosac pretty convincingly earlier in the season. 

 

The first quarter Lenox was able to score two goals to Hoosac’s one but Hoosac was able to gain momentum in the second and scored four goals to Lenox’s one and was able to hold that momentum the rest of the game. 

 

"You eliminate those mistakes and we are going to go win this game," Hoosac Valley coach Jacob Anderson-Hall said of his message to the team.

 

Hoosac then scored five goals in the third quarter, two of those by Kamarion Kastner, who ended the game with four goals. Lenox scored three goals in the third, two of them assisted by Shaler Larmon who ended the game with 3 goals and 2 assists. 

 

“They just came out flat and had to regroup, we just couldn’t pick up ground balls today, that was our problem," Lenox coach Brett Larmon said.

 

Hoosac Valley was led by Wesley Emerson in scoring with five goals. Adan Wicks for Hoosac leading the way with three assists.

 

Lenox was led by Paul Naventi, who had four goals. 

 

In net, Max Griffin had 12 saves which was a difference maker for Hoosac and helped them to secure their win by one goal in the final minutes. 

 

This was Hoosac Valley's first ever Western Mass Championship in program history and it meant that much more after not making the tournament for the last two years. 

 

"It just makes it so much sweeter when we are finally able to accomplish our goals," Anderson-Hall said.

 

Lenox had won the Class C Western Mass Championship for the past two years.

 

“Some of these kids don’t know any different, we aren’t used to not winning this thing," Brett Larmons said. “I can’t complain they fought all the way to the end."

 

Both of these teams will begin preparing for the State Tournament but with completely different mindsets. 

 

“We will need a couple days to regroup but then we will be right back at it," Larmon said.

 

Anderson-Hall had a different approach.

 

"I think I'm just going to let them ride this, this enthusiasm and momentum," he said.
