Pittsfield Boys Edge McCann Tech
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Jacob Brazeau scored with 2 minutes, 29 seconds left to give the Pittsfield boys lacrosse team a 12-11 win over McCann Tech on Saturday.
The goal capped a back-and-forth game that was tied at half-time and saw the teams match each other nearly goal-for-goal over the last 24 minutes.
“Both teams played hard, both goalies made huge saves, every inch was battled for,” McCann Tech coach Paul Lange said. “PHS came to play and showed no quit when we were up. They pressed on defense and made life miserable for our offense.
“For us at McCann, I am so proud of these boys. It was just 10 days ago that Pittsfield blew us away by 12 goals. We felt we could play with them and today these kids really proved it. We made some adjustments that seemed to help, but mostly it was effort and execution.”
Brazeau scored four goals, and Justin LaBelle and Shawn O’Shea each had a hat trick for the Generals, who got nine saves from Hayden Plouffe.
Keegan Dellaghelfa made 16 stops and had an assist for McCann Tech.
Darian Tovani led the Hornets’ offense with four goals, and Jason Delisle had a hat trick.
“It was our fourth game in a row, fifth game this week,” Lange noted. “These boys are sore, sick, exhausted, battling minor injuries, shorthanded, you name it. And they went out there today and proved that they belong. During a timeout I told them no moral victories to try and motivate them, but honestly today this is as close as it gets to being one. I couldn’t be happier about it.”
McCann Tech (7-5) goes to Belchertown on Tuesday.
Pittsfield (4-7) is at Hoosac Valley on Wednesday.
