Padelford Leads Wahconah Back to Elite Eight

WESTON, Mass. – Rylan Padelford scored six goals Tuesday to lead the Wahconah boys lacrosse team to a 9-5 win over Weston in the Division 4 State Tournament Round of 16.
 
Tenth-seeded Wahconah (16-5) advances to the state quarter-finals to face the winner of Wednesday’s game between No. 2 Norwell (13-6) and No. 15 Fairhaven (15-4).
 
Bryce Smith made 12 saves to earn the win in goal for Wahconah on Tuesday.
 
Jonathan Howard had a goal and two assists, and Devin Lagerwall and Sawyer Padelford each scored a goal for Wahconah, which got a pair of assists from Jacob Thomas.
 
Wahconah returns to the Elite 8 for the third straight year – advancing for the first time on the road in the Round of 16. It takes a seven-game winning streak into this year’s quarter-finals.
