PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- A city rivalry baseball game will be combined with an alumni game at historic Wahconah Park on Saturday, May 14.

All former players and coaches from Pittsfield and Taconic are invited to participate in the special event, which kicks off with a varsity game between the two schools at noon.

The alumni game warmups are scheduled to start at 2 with the game at 2:30, followed by a post-game alumni social.

Former players and coaches are encouraged to dust off the glove, bring the family, catch up with old friends, and enjoy themselves. With a variety of activities and recognition events planned, the day will feature a celebration of the past, present, and future of local baseball.

The alumni game will feature “Batting Practice Speed” pitching in an effort to ensure that at-bats are enjoyable and successful regardless of age, graduation year, or the last time participants may have picked up a bat. There will be no curve balls, no worries about being hit by a pitch, no recent graduates throwing 85 mph, and no concerns about being embarrassed.

The goal is to offer our former players and coaches a chance to connect with the current teams, have some fun, get their bat on the ball, and be part of a great day at Wahconah Park. The day will be capped off with an informal social immediately following the game open to all alumni, friends, and family.

A donation of $20 is requested from individuals interested in participating in the alumni game.  Each participant will receive an alumni shirt and a listing in the game program, with all proceeds from alumni donations directly benefiting the PHS and Taconic baseball programs.  Alumni wishing to participate are encouraged to register by April 30.

For more information, or to register for the alumni game, contact the Pittsfield Public Schools Athletic Department at 413-499-9522 or jabel@pittsfield.net.
