Pittsfield's Donati to Commit to UAlbany
PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Pittsfield High School and the Pittsfield Public Schools Athletic Department are pleased announce that senior shortstop Kevin Donati is scheduled to officially commit to attending the University of Albany at a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony scheduled for Thursday, April 16.
The signing ceremony will take place in the main lobby of Pittsfield High School at 1 p.m. The ceremony is open to credentialed media members, as well as invited guests.
A four-year starter for the Generals, Donati hit .521 with 38 hits, 31 runs scored, and 22 RBI’s as a junior, serving as the catalyst for the 2014 team that went 15-6. Defensively, Donati anchors the middle infield, with scouts and coaches noticing his quick footwork, soft hands, and strong throwing arm from across the diamond. The son of Paula and Mike Donati of Pittsfield, Kevin is also the grandson of legendary high school coach, George “Buddy” Pellerin.
"The UAlbany program is just a perfect fit and I am grateful of this opportunity,” Donati said. “ UAlbany is close to home, has a really strong history, and the coaching staff at the school have made me feel very comfortable.”
Donati was recruited by UAlbany Associate Head Coach, Drew Pearce.
Donati's abilities generated exposure to a wide variety of college recruiters from throughout the Northeast. In addition to UAlbany, he received interest from AIC, University of Rhode Island, and UMass-Lowell. In choosing UAlbany, Donati decided that it was the best place to continue his education and athletic career.
"We're extremely happy and excited for Kevin. His hard work and dedication have obviously paid off, ” veteran PHS Head Coach Bob Moynihan said. “He is a complete player with a love for the game and a tremendous work ethic."
The UAlbany Great Danes are members of the NCAA Division I America East Conference, and feature a competitive schedule against nationally ranked opponents including NC State, Georgia Tech, and Coastal Carolina.
