Wade Gets Win as Spartans Earn State Tournament Bid

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Jayder Raifstanger went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles Monday to lead the Monument Mountain baseball team to an 8-5 win over Mount Greylock as the Spartans qualified for the state tournament with their 10th win.
 
Owen Wade struck out 11, walked just one and allowed one earned run to earn a complete-game victory on the mound.
 
After Mount Greylock took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Monument Mountain came back to tie it in the bottom of the inning.
 
In the bottom of the second, Collin Parker’s RBI groundout drove in Garret Curtin to give Monument Mountain the lead for good.
 
For Mount Greylock, Jameson Bayliss had a two-run single, and Tommy Art singled and scored a run.
 
Jake Gladu and Cole Wetherell split time on the mound for the Mounties, combining to strike out five and allow five earned runs.
 
Mount Greylock (1-14) hosts Wahconah on Wednesday.
 
Monument Mountain (10-2) goes to Ludlow on Wednesday.
