Monument Mountain Baseball Falls at Salem

SALEM, Mass. – Corey Grimes singled to drive in a run in the bottom of the eighth Tuesday to give the Salem baseball team a 3-2 win over Monument Mountain in the Division 4 State Tournament Round of 16.
 
Grimes went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to lead the 24th-seeded Witches (12-10), who advance to play the winner of Wednesday’s game between No. 1 Lynnfield and Oxford in the state quarter-finals.
 
Jack Bissaillon singled and drove in a run, and Dom Velasco and Greg Kay each had a hit for No. 25 Monument Mountain (11-11).
 
Gus Luf went the distance on the mound for the Spartans, striking out four and allowing just one earned run.
