WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Derek Paris went 2-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base and three runs scored and threw a couple of innings in relief as the Mount Greylock baseball team Sunday beat Lenox, 11-2, in the Division 5 State Tournament.

Paris and Jack Cangelosi combined for 3-⅔ innings in relief of starter Chase Doyle, who left with the Mounties ahead, 3-0.

“It was a close game up until the top of the fourth,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “Chase was pitching well, but in the fourth he ran into some trouble. With bases loaded and one out, we went to our ace Jack Cangelosi to get us out of there. And he only let one in on a swinging bunt. Other than that, he struck out two, and we were pumped. We then came back with a big inning, putting up five runs.”

Landen Jamula drove in three runs, and Cangelosi doubled in a seven-hit Mount Greylock attack.

Samuel Joyce and Zack Nicotra each singled and drove in a run for the Millionaires, who finish the year 11-11.

Third-seeded Mount Greylock (18-4) awaits the winner of Monday’s game between Mystic Valley and Greenfield in the Round of 16.
