WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Cal Messina went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs on Tuesday to lead the Mount Greylock baseball team to a 10-3 win over Lee.

Messina had half of Mount Greylock’s hits as the Mounties benefited from seven walks and four Wildcats errors.

Messina also had three of Mount Greylock’s seven stolen bases.

Brandon Condon doubled, and Cole Wojtkowski went 1-for-3 with two runs scored an RBI.

Mount Greylock’s Phil Guest and Alex Backiel split time on the mound, striking out seven and allowing two earned runs.

Andrew Ruef went 2-for-3, and Marcel Somerville doubled for Lee.

It was a special day before the first pitch for the Mounties, who retired the No. 21 in honor of longtime assistant coach Norman Sweet, who died in December.

Before the game, Sweet’s family took part in an opening ceremony, where his granddaughter Kamryn, a sixth-grader at Lanesborough Elementary School, and her dad, Norman Sweet III, a Mount Greylock baseball alumnus, threw out first pitches.

Mount Greylock (12-3) goes to Monument Mountain on Wednesday.

Lee (6-8) visits Hoosac Valley on Wednesday.
