WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Tommy Art laid down a suicide squeeze in the bottom of the ninth to drive in Cole Wetherell and give the Mount Greylock baseball team a 5-4 win over Easthampton.

After the Eagles scored in the top of the ninth, Cam Miller got the winning rally started with a leadoff single.

Everett Bayliss ran for Miller; he stole second and took third on a wild pitch. Wetherell then tried to squeeze Bayliss home to tie the game, but Easthampton’s catcher was called for interference, allowing Bayless to score without a play and putting Wetherell on first.

Wetherell then stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. Easthampton intentionally walked Jackson Shelsy to get to Art, who then ended the game.

“We had to use every player from our bench to get this one,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “Their pitcher was pitching a great game and unfortunately for them he had to come out when Tommy [Art] was up.”

“Both teams played hard and it was an exciting win for us. Finally, the boys know what it is like to come through in the clutch and what it feels like to walk a game off. This is great for us going forward.”

Jameson Bayliss got the start on the mound for Mount Greylock and went five innings, allowing no earned runs. Jake Gladu pitched two innings of scoreless relief before giving the ball to Jason Jaros, who earned the win, allowing one run in two innings of work.

Art went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in to lead the Mounties’ offense, which got two hits, including a double, from Shelsy.

Miller and Wetherell each went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Mount Greylock (4-15) won its third straight going into Wednesday’s season finale at Franklin Tech.
