NEW LEBANON, N.Y. — There was little for head coach Steve Messina to fuss about in the Mount Greylock baseball team's 15-0 win over New Lebanon on Saturday.

Senior Tommy Nowlan threw an impressive complete-game shutout, no-hitting the Tigers while striking out 13 batters and walking just two. Out of the 85 total pitches he threw, Nowlan hurled 56 strikes. The Mounties' hurler was in complete control the whole game, throwing first-pitch strikes to 15 of the 22 batters he faced.

The Mounties' offense was also impressive, scoring three runs apiece in the first two innings and putting the game away for good with a six-run seventh inning. Sophomore Andrew Lietch went 4 for 4 with four RBI and three runs scored in his first varsity start. Fellow classmate Sean Houston also had a good day at the plate, collecting three hits with three runs scored and two runs batted in.

"Tommy had great command today," Messina said. "He worked ahead of the hitters, staying mainly with his fastball. The kids played well. They made plays and put the ball in play. Overall, it was a very good first outing."

Greylock is off now until Thursday, when they play at Pittsfield at 4:15 p.m.
