Wahconah Jumps Out to Early Lead, Holds on for First Win
DALTON, Mass. --Dane Campbell went 2-for-2 and scored twice, and the Wahconah baseball team held off a late rally by Taconic Hills to earn a 6-4 win on Friday.
Wahconah (1-1) scored four runs in the first two innings and led, 6-0, after five before the visitors rallied with a pair in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Jake Gai doubled, and Bob Archambault and Gabe Verdi each went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Verdi also earned the win with six innings of work on the mound. He stuck out six and allowed two runs. Caden Frazier pitched his way out of jam in the seventh, getting a swinging strike to end the game with a man on second.
Wahconah goes to Mount Greylock on Saturday.
