Hampshire Edges Wahconah in Sectional Semi

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Hampshire Regional took a 2-0 lead after three innings and held off a Wahconah rally for a 2-1 win in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 semi-finals on Wednesday afternoon.

 

Brandon Wayant went the distance on the mound for Hampshire, striking out four.

 

Kyle Kirchner was the hard-luck loser for Wahconah (15-7) after striking out four and scattering seven hits

 

Matt Schneider had a pair of hits and drove in the Wahconah run in the bottom of the fourth.

 

Seventh-seeded Hampshire (16-5) moves on to Saturday's sectional final against top-seeded Mount Greylock (19-3) at 1:30 at the University of Massachusetts.
