DALTON, Mass. –  James Rabuse hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth as the Wahconah baseball team pulled away for a 7-0 win over Greenfield on Wednesday.

What was a battle of pitching and defense went downhill for the Green Wave in the sixth.

Wahconah started the inning off with a pair of walks.

This would led to a Tyler Dostie RBI single to bring Wahconah’s lead to 2-0.

But it did not stop there after another pair of hits by Dom Marcella and Braedyn Melle and an RBI walk to Beau Walton..

That led to the game opening James Rabuse grand slam.

“It felt really good,” Rabuse said. “I saw the pitch I really wanted and took advantage of it.

“Overall our team really came together in the sixth. Our pitching [Colby Robb] was on point all game.”

Robb threw a complete game shutout for Wahconah.

Though Greenfield failed to score, Green Wave pitcher Michael Pearce threw eight strikeouts, today including five looking.

Hitting wise, Greenfield struck in the third inning with a two-out triple by Devin Dube.

Unfortunately he would not score as Robb got a flyball out on the very next pitch.

This win brought Wahconah to a (5-2) record, while Greenfield is now (2-5).

Wahconah Thursday travels to Mount Greylock.
