MONSON, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley baseball team’s seventh-inning rally came up short on Monday as Monson hung on for a 5-3 win in the regular season finale for both teams.

Hoosac Valley (13-7) scored twice in the top of the seventh but left one man on base.

Nick Murach started the rally with a leadoff single, and Keagan McGrath had a sacrfice fly as the ‘Canes took advantage of an error and a passed ball.

Two Hoosac Valley errors helped produce two unearned runs against pitcher Devin Kogut, who struck out six, walked one and scattered eight hits in a complete game loss.

J.P. Levesque doubled, and Chris Larabee went 1-for-2 with a walk for Hoosac Valley, which learns Tuesday when and where it will open play in the Western Massachusetts tournament.
