Taconic Holds Off Central for Win

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Eddie Ferris doubled in a pair of runs, and Quentin Christopher allowed one earned run in five innings as the Taconic baseball team earned a 7-6 win over Springfield Central on Wednesday.
 
Gavin Maffuccio went 2-for-4 and drove in a run in a seven-hit attack for the Thunder, which scored four runs in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead.
 
It was 7-1 after four innings, but Central rallied with runs in each of its last three at-bats.
 
Maffuccio also ended the game by striking out a Central batter with runners at the corners in the top of the seventh inning.
 
Christopher struck out five in his five innings to get the win.
 
Taconic (1-1) is home again on Friday against Holyoke.
