SHEFFIELD, Mass. – The Housatonic Valley baseball team Friday scored seven times in the top of the seventh inning to overcome a one-run deficit and take a 16-10 win over Mount Everett.

The Eagles went down, 7-2, early but battled back, scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-9 lead.

“I was happy with the way we battled against a good-hitting team, coming from behind to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth,” Mount Everett coach Dan Lanoue said. “Ultimately, when you give up nine walks to a good-hitting team, it will catch up to you. That’s what happened in the top of the seventh.

“After the first batter popped up to short for the first out, we gave up five walks and two hits, and they scored seven runs in the inning.”

Michael Ullrich went 2-for-3 with a double, and Connor Boardman was 2-for-4 with a double in an eight-hit Mount Everett attack.

Four different pitchers split time on the mound for the Eagles (3-2), who visit Monument Mountain on Monday.
