Livsey Provides Game-Winning RBI as Hornets Come Back on Road
HATFIELD, Mass. – Josh Livsey drove in the winning run in the top of the seventh as the McCann Tech baseball team Wednesday earned a 5-3 win over Smith Academy.
The Hornets went to the seventh tied, 3-3.
Ty Barrett drew a leadoff walk and moved up on a one-out single by Collin Booth. He then stole third, and Austin Buda worked a walk to put runners at the corners for Livsey.
Livsey’s RBI groundout to the left side scored Barrett to put the Hornets up, 4-3, and moved Buda into scoring position.
Lukas Rylander then singled to drive in Buda and give McCann Tech a 5-3 lead.
Livsey closed the door in the bottom of the seventh, getting the final out on a called third strike with runners at first and second.
McCann led early after scoring two in the top of the first, but Smith Academy tied it in the second and went ahead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third.
In the top of the sixth, Aaron Livsey singled up the middle to drive in Rylander, who reached on a triple, to tie the game, 3-3.
Rylander started on the mound and went 4-1/3 , striking out seven, before giving the ball to Josh Livsey.
Rylander and Booth each had a pair of hits for McCann Tech. Booth also stole three bases; the Hornets as a team stole 10.
McCann Tech (5-2) goes to Lee on Monday.
