NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Aaron Livsey struck out 13 in a complete-game effort in his first varsity start Thursday as the McCann Tech baseball team earned a 5-2 win over Smith Vocational.

“He was ahead of hitters the majority of the day, and the depth of his curveball was fantastic today,” McCann Tech coach Bill Farrell said.

“Aaron was making his first start after being our closer for the majority of the season. He’s been throwing the ball really well, and we felt moving him into a starting role would be beneficial to him and the team.”

Ozzie Weber went 3-for-4, and Omar Uqhda and Chase Vander-Woude each had a pair of hits hitting in the No. 8 and No. 9 holes, respectively.

“Offensively, it’s so awesome to see the bottom part of our order produce,” Farrell said. “There’s no weak spot at all, and it shows. One through nine today all had tough, quality at-bats, and seeing the eight and nine hitters come through with multiple two-out hits is both uplifting for us and back-breaking for the other team.”

Uqhda and Austin Buda each doubled, and Vander-Woude drove in three runs in the win.

McCann Tech (7-3) hosts Drury on Friday at Joe Wolfe Field.
