Jourdain and Meehan Finish First at Wahconah
DALTON, Mass. -- Drury junior Connor Meehan ran a time of 16 minutes, 25 seconds to win the boys race at Wednesday's cross country meet at Wahconah High School.
Meehan finished 14 seconds ahead of runner-up Raphael Bruno of Lenox (16:39).
Bruno was joined in the top 10 by teammates Connor McNinch (sixth place, 17:52) and Harry Bruns (seventh place, 17:57).
The Lenox girls dominated their race with the top four finishers, led by Emma Jourdain in 18:32. Maggie Sorentino (18:53), Emily Tibbetts (19:02) and Alice Najimy finished second through fourth, respectively. Elizabeth Jarck (20:44) placed ninth for the Millionaires.
Host Wahconah saw freshmen Gabrielle and Danielle Orlando finish fifth and sixth, just two seconds apart, in 20:34 and 20:36, respectively.
Monument Mountain finished strong with three runners in the top 10: Meryl and Grace Phair were seventh and eighth, respectively in 20:39 and 20:44. The Sparatans' Kayla Dillon (21:04) was 10th.
Back in the boys race, Lee's Sam Harding finished third in 17:21.
Wahconah was led by Jaryd Massaro (17:27) in fourth place.
Monument had four boys in the top 10. Richard Stanmeyer (18:02), Jared Henry (18:06), Brendan Kavanah (18:09) and Nick Gray (18:13) finished seventh through 10th, respectively.
