Pittsfield Girls Win, Force Three-Way Tie in Season Standings

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – With two races left in the Berkshire County Alpine ski season, the girls team race could not get much tighter.

 

Eliza Mullen Wednesday earned a giant slalom win on Wednesday night at Bousquet to lead Pittsfield to a team win and pull the Generals into a three-way tie in the season standings with Monument Mountain and Lenox.

 

Grace Ungewitter and Isabella Scalise placed second and third, respectively, and Amaya Rennie was 16th in a 24-racer field to round out the scoring for Pittsfield.

 

Lenox placed second on Wednesday night behind Madison DiGrigoli, who placed second as an individual.

 

Monument Mountain’s girls, who started the season with a pair of wins in the first two weeks, placed third for the second straight week on Wednesday. Loghan Strzepa and Grace Soule finished fifth and sixth, respectively, for the Spartans.

 

The Spartan boys earned their third win in four meets on Wednesday to stay two points ahead of the field in their season standings.

 

Kitson Stover finished second, and Declan Logan was fourth for the Spartans, who held off Lenox, which was second on Wednesday and stands in second for the season after four runner-up finishes.

 

On Wednesday, Oliver Kirby led the Millionaires with a fifth-place showing.

 

Wahconah’s Alex Sternerup took the individual honors on Wednesday for the first time this season, hitting the finish line .26 seconds faster than Stover.

 

Taconic’s Keeghen Scott was just .04 seconds behind Stover to place third and lead the Thunder to a third-place finish.

 

The league’s season continues with a slalom race on Monday; the season finale is on Feb. 12.
