Pittsfield Grabs Bowling League Lead

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Chris Gaylord rolled a two-game average of 190 to lead the Pittsfield High bowling team into first place in the Berkshire County Bowling League on Friday at Ken's Bowl.
 
The Generals (2-0) came into the second week of the season tied with Drury with 31 points after each team swept their season opener the week before.
 
On Friday, Pittsfield picked up a 25-6 win over St. Joe to bump its season total to 56-6. Drury was pushed a little harder by Taconic but came away with a 23-8 victory to go to 54-8 on the year.
 
It's a tight battle at the top of the league leaderboard with Lee (50-12) and Wahconah (49-13) in hot pursuit of the leaders.
 
On Friday, Drury got big contributions from Allison Brassard and Kayla Field, who turned in the top scores of the day among the girls -- each recording a 191. Field had the high series among girls, 376.
 
The top game of the day by any bowler was the 254 turned in by Wahconah's Chris Paro with a 254. St. Joe's Jordan Kinnas had the high series with a 478.
 
Next Friday at Cove Lanes in Great Barrington, the league's top four teams all will be in action against one another as No. 1 Pittsfield faces No. 4 Wahconah and N
