Harrington Second at State Qualifier

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Pittsfield senior Kellie Harrington placed second at Sunday’s Division 2B meet at the state championship qualifier at Stanley Park.
 
Harrington finished the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 44.96 seconds, just 10 seconds behind individual champion Carmen Luisi of Holliston, and secured a berth as an individual in Saturday’s state meet at Fort Devens.
 
Harrington led the Generals to a 12th-place finish out of 20 teams in the 2B race.
 
Grace Ungewitter placed 48th in the field of 141 runners with a time of 21:46.79.
 
Also scoring for the Pittsfield girls on Sunday were Eilish Travis, Sophia LaMalfa and Jada Siv.
 
Pittsfield’s boys placed 22nd in the team standings behind a 74th-place finish from Lennox Silvestro-Dias (18:23.70). Asa Chard was just behind him in 77th place with a time of 18:26.45. Other scorers for Pittsfield’s boys were Seth Aitken, James Smith and David Castegnaro.
 
Groton-Dunstable won the boys D2B race with 94 points. Falmouth’s Henry Gartner won the individual gold in 15:19.25, nearly a minute ahead of the field.
 
Luisi helped Holliston’s girls win the team crown with 51 points.
