Pittsfield Public Schools Seeking Volleyball, Golf Coaches

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Public Schools have announced two varsity head coaching vacancies for the upcoming season.

 

Pittsfield High School is accepting applicants for the position of head volleyball coach.

 

Taconic High School is seeking applicants for the head golf coach position.

 

The successful candidates will be responsible for managing, organizing, and administering all phases of their respective programs in accordance with MIAA regulations.

 

The head coach must have a commitment to

administering a competitive program that emphasizes integrity and the educational and personal welfare of its student-athletes.

 

Additional responsibilities for the volleyball coach also include coaching effectively in practice and successfully in games, recruiting female athletes currently enrolled at PHS, overseeing booster club and fundraising activities, and managing equipment inventory.

 

Candidates for the Taconic golf position  should be knowledgeable about the rules, fundamental techniques, and course etiquette required of the sport. Excellent communications skills, ability to work effectively with students and parents, and a philosophy consistent with the mission and goals of the school are required.

Candidates should have the ability to convey messages of sportsmanship, work ethic, and responsibility to one’s team.

 

Experience as coach at the high school level is preferred, but not required, for either position. A bachelor's degree is preferred for the paid positions.

 

The fall season for each sport opens Aug. 23. Golf season runs through Oct. 31; volleyball runs into early November.
